Western Distribution Services 2017 Warehouse Development – Burien, Washington
In 2017, Western Distribution Services (WDS) expanded its operations by opening a state-of-the-art, 241,140-square-foot cold storage facility at 1010 South 146th Street in Burien, Washington. This facility accommodates approximately 41,000 pallets and offers adjustable temperature settings to store a variety of products, from fresh perishables to frozen foods. Strategically located near Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, the warehouse provides convenient access to major transportation routes, enhancing distribution efficiency. The project was a collaborative effort involving WDS, Bridge Development Partners, Dan Mathews of Kidder Mathews, and Tippmann Innovation. WDS offers comprehensive warehousing and logistics solutions, including cold storage, food processing, and transportation management services.
The Maverick Apartments – Burien, Washington

The Maverick Apartments, located at 15045 5th Avenue SW in Burien, Washington, is a six-story residential complex completed in 2017. Developed through a collaboration between Legacy Partners and Pillar Properties, the project offers 229 units, including studios, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments, as well as townhome-style lofts.

Strategically situated adjacent to Burien Town Square Park, The Maverick provides residents with convenient access to local shops, restaurants, and the weekly Farmer’s Market.

The development of The Maverick Apartments has contributed to the revitalization of Burien’s urban core, offering residents modern living spaces with a range of amenities in a vibrant community setting.

Code Purple Robotics – FRC Team 5827 – 2016/2017

FRC Team 5827, “Code Purple,” is the robotics team from Lake Washington High School in Kirkland, Washington. Founded in 2016 under the leadership of its inaugural president, Lucas Mathews, the team has demonstrated notable achievements in its initial years.

2016 Rookie All-Star Award: At the Auburn Mountainview District Competition and the District Championship, Code Purple earned the Rookie All-Star Award, recognizing their exceptional success in promoting engineering within their school and community. 

Lucas Mathews was selected as a Dean’s List District Championship Semi-finalist, acknowledging his leadership and dedication to the team’s success.

In 2017, at the Auburn Mountainview event, the team received the Safety Award sponsored by Underwriters Laboratories and the Team Spirit Award sponsored by FCA Foundation, reflecting their commitment to safety and team cohesion.

Under Lucas Mathews’ leadership, Code Purple established a strong foundation, emphasizing innovation, teamwork, and community engagement. Their early accomplishments set a precedent for continued growth and success in subsequent seasons.
